Canada’s next top dog and cat.

1. HOW TO ENTER & ELIGIBILITY  

No Purchase Necessary.  To enter, entrants must:

(i) post a picture, video or reel of their dog or cat to their Instagram account as part of your feed;
(ii) include the hashtag #CanadasNextTopDog or #CanadasNextTopCat; and
(iii) follow @telushealth on Instagram.

All three steps must take place in order for the Entry to be deemed a successful entry. Any story posts will not be eligible to enter the contest.

Entries must be posted by November 26, 2023 to be automatically entered.  No persons can appear in the Entry. Only one entry per person. Contest is open to all residents of Canada, excluding Quebec, with a public Instagram account. No other form of participation is accepted.

TELUS will be making a $5 charitable donation for each entry received up to a maximum of $20,000.

Contest runs November 6, 2023 to November 29, 2023 at 9:00am EST (“Contest Entry Period”).  Voting runs November 29, 2023 to December 6, 2023 (“Voting Period”).

To be eligible, you must be a Canadian resident 18 years of age or older. Contest not open to employees of TELUS Corporation (“TELUS”), its affiliated companies or subsidiaries, its sales agents, its advertising and promotional agencies, and members with whom they are domiciled.

All winners and runner-ups (finalists) must have submitted a photo of their cat or a dog. Submitted entries must not
contain any animal displaying any signs of distress in the sole discretion of the contest administrator. Contest administrators reserve the right to ask an entrant to resubmit a new entry/photo or remove the entry entirely from the contest.

By entering the contest, the top two (2) finalists (winning dog and winning cat entrants) agree to having their pet  featured in an upcoming TELUS campaign (“TELUS Campaign Shoot”).

The contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Instagram.
By accepting these Contest Rules, entrants agree that any and all liability related to this contest by TELUS is limited to the value of the Prize(s) as defined hereinafter.

2. JUDGING CRITERIA & WINNER SELECTION

Round 1 – Top 10 Finalists.

On November 29, 2023, the top 10 Entries (top 5 dog photos and top 5 cat photos) will be selected by a panel of TELUS judges from all entries received during the Contest Entry Period. Entries will be chosen based on the following criteria (Judging Criteria):

• 50% cuteness
• 25% creativity
• 25% personality

Round 2 – Audience voting on their favourite photo

On or about November 29, 2023, the top 10 Entries (as determined by the judging panel) will be placed on telus.com/CanadasNextTopPet to allow audience members to vote for their favourite photo. Voting Period will run from November 29, 2023 9:00 am EST to December 6, 2023 23:59 pm EST.

Winner Selection

The top two (2) winners will be selected based on the highest number of votes by the audience during the Voting Period.  The remaining eight (8) finalists will be deemed to be a “runner up”.  In the event of a tie for the top 2 entry spots, a panel of TELUS judges will determine the winner based on the photo that received the highest score during Round 1 in the cuteness category.

An Entry that includes:

• a person or another animal other than a dog or cat;
• content which infringes any right of any third party (for example, picture copyright);
• suggests subject matter that may violate community standards or is otherwise of questionable taste (in the sole discretion of the Contest administrators);

will be ineligible and excluded from the Contest.

3.THE PRIZE

There will be ten (10) prizes awarded in total.  Two (2) Grand Prizes and eight (8) Secondary Prizes.

Grand Prize (2 winners)

Dog Winner Prize Package (1 winner)

• $1,000 PetSmart gift card; and
• $500 towards a professional photography session (“Grand Prize Photo Session”).

Cat Winner Prize Package (1 winner)

• $1,000 PetSmart gift card; and
• $500 towards a professional photography session (“Grand Prize Photo Session”).

The top two finalists will be required to attend a TELUS Campaign Shoot (arranged by TELUS) with their winning pet. The images may be featured (based on TELUS sole discretion) in an upcoming TELUS campaign. The Grand Prize Photo Session will be selected and arranged by the TELUS.  Winner will be responsible for travel and costs to and from the Grand Prize Photo Session.  Winner will also be responsible for any and all expenses incurred in attending the Grand Prize Photo Session including but not limited to a dog/cat travel carrier, meals, hotel accommodations, etc.

Secondary Prizing – Runners-Up (8 winners)

Each runner-up will receive the following:

• One (1) $100.00 (CAD) PetSmart gift card.

Prize(s) must be accepted as awarded and with no substitutions, is/are not transferable and cannot be exchanged with TELUS for cash. TELUS reserves the right to substitute any portion of the Prize with a Prize of equivalent value if such prize becomes unavailable for any reason.

4. WINNER NOTIFICATION

On or about December 11, 2023, the top 2 winners will be determined based on the highest number of votes received during the Voting Period.  The top dog finalist (as determined by the voting audience) will receive the Dog Grand Prize and the top cat finalist (as determined by the voting audience) will receive the Cat Grand Prize.  The remaining 8 finalists (runner up) will receive the Secondary Prize.

Selected entrants will be notified by Instagram, telephone and/or e-mail. No telephone contact or correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants. If the selected entrants cannot be reached within four (4) business days, or if the selected entrants do not meet any of the contest requirements their prize will be forfeited.

The selected entrants will be required to sign a standard release form. Failure to comply with the Contest Rules or sign and return the release form within seven (7) days of receipt will result in disqualification and another entry will be selected until the Prize is awarded.

5.  PRIVACY

By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use of their names and their pets name, city of residence, story, photograph, voice and/or image for publicity purposes in all media used by TELUS, without payment or compensation. Winning entrant’s data will be retained for a (7) year period.  Entrants agree to TELUS’ use of the entrants’ personal information which may include contacting you regarding limited time offers, promotional offers and/or surveys. 6.  OTHER

All entries become the property of TELUS.  TELUS assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged entries. TELUS reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, cancel or suspend this contest without prior notice. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with or unlawful in any way. Entries submitted by unauthorized means will be disqualified.  In the event that it has been determined that an entry has been made in a manner not sanctioned by these rules and/or an entrant has submitted more than the number of entries permitted by these rules, the entrant and all of his/her entries will be disqualified.  Entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and the decisions of the contest judges, which are final.  This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations.
